  • The Frontiers Planet Prize Awards Ceremony is by invitation only. Please RSVP using the link in your invitation email. If you cannot locate your invitation, please email awardceremony@frontiersplanetprize.org

  • The official venue for Frontiers Planet Prize Awards Ceremony is the Villars Palace Hotel (Rte des Hôtels 28) Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland.

  • More information on speakers and other program elements will be available in Spring 2024.   

  • There is no fee to attend Frontiers Planet Prize Awards Ceremony.

  • No, the Frontiers Planet Prize will book and pay for your accommodation during the days of the event you are invited to attend, which will be at a hotel in Villars close to the event venue. Please indicate your accommodation requirements on the registration form. If your requirements change, please email awardceremony@frontiersplanetprize.org.

    Please note that accommodation will only be booked for the days of the event you are invited to attend; and we will not be able to provide accommodation for extra nights. Your accommodation details will be sent to you closer to the event date

  • We will provide a travel allowance to help cover your travel costs. You will receive information on how to claim your travel allowance after registering.

    Breakfast, lunch and dinner will also be arranged for the duration of your stay.

    In the case of cancellation after the allowance has been paid, Frontiers Planet Prize will require a full refund.

  • Travel allowance is based on the location you are traveling from. The amounts are as follows:

    - Participants from Switzerland = 100 USD

    - Participants from Europe = 350 USD

    - Participants from Middle East / Africa = 850 USD

    - Participants from Americas = 1,300 USD

    - Participants from Asia and Pacific = 1,700 USD

  • To reach the venue, we recommend booking a flight to Geneva. From Geneva airport, you can easily access Villars-sur-Ollon by train, followed by shuttle/bus.

    Trains are accessible from Geneva Airport to Aigle, with a travel time of approximately 2 hours. Train tickets can be obtained online or at the station and the schedule can be found on the Swiss Federal Railways website. From Aigle train station, a shuttle (with a frequency of 30 minutes) will make the connection to Villars-sur-Ollon. Bus 144, which leaves from Aigle train station is another option to reach the event location.

    As the event date approaches, we will provide you with more detailed information on how to reach your hotel.

  • You will need to book your own transportation to/from Villars.

  • Yes, please email awardceremony@frontiersplanetprize.org with your embassy address and passport details. For more information on entry into Switzerland, see the FAQ page of the Swiss Confederation’s official information site.

  • The dress code is smart casual.

  • Please email awardceremony@frontiersplanetprize.org by 30 March 2024 if you can no longer attend Frontiers Planet Prize Award Ceremony in-person.

  • The official language of the Frontiers Planet Prize Award Ceremony is English.

  • The venue is accessible by wheelchair, and we are committed to hosting an inclusive event where all individuals can fully engage.

  • We appreciate your interest in bringing a guest to the event. However, due to venue capacity limited bringing a guest is not permitted.

  • Time zone: Switzerland will be under Central European Summer Time (GMT + 1 hour) at the time of the event. You can check the time difference from your country of travel using the World Time Buddy online time converter. Make sure to select the event dates when converting time, as summer time starts on different dates in different countries.

    Electrical plugs: The voltage in Switzerland is 230V/50 Hz, as in most of Europe. Switzerland uses type C (2-pin) and Type J (3-pin) plugs. (Type C 2-pin plugs also fit J sockets.) Most power sockets are designed for three pin round plugs. The standard continental type plug with two round pins, applied for many electrical travel products, may be used without problem. Adaptors are available in most hotels.

    Languages: German and French are the most widely spoken languages in Switzerland. Many people living in Switzerland also speak English.

    Currency: Switzerland uses the Swiss franc, usually indicated as CHF. Credit cards are widely used across Switzerland.
